Parmesan Cheese Straws

Easy 25 mins prep 15 mins cooking 24 straws

Crispy, flaky pastry straws loaded with aged Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs. The perfect appetizer or party snack.

Golden brown parmesan cheese straws

Ingredients

  • 375g puff pastry
  • 200g Parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. 1. Roll out pastry to 30x40cm rectangle
  2. 2. Sprinkle with cheese, herbs, and spices
  3. 3. Fold in half and roll lightly
  4. 4. Cut into 1cm strips
  5. 5. Twist each strip and place on baking sheet
  6. 6. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with salt
  7. 7. Bake at 200°C for 12-15 minutes until golden

Chef's Notes

  • Use aged Parmesan for best flavor
  • Keep pastry cold for maximum flakiness
  • Can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container
